My name is Kinga Lukaszewska. I was born in Warsaw, which is the capital of Poland. My adventure with nails started in 2001, when a friend of mine did acrylic nails for me. I fell in love with the process and went to a shop and bought all the things I needed for doing nails on my own. I started practising at home on my mum, aunt, and friends.

I worked at home for three years. After that, I felt it was time to do something more. I found a job in a beauty salon in Poland and worked there for a few months. I wanted to extend my skills; therefore, I took manicure, pedicure, acrylic, and gel courses. When I completed them, I started working at a higher-quality beauty salon. I made friends there with a woman who was an instructor for a professional gel and acrylic system. She taught me a lot, and I was thrilled to improve my nail technician skills. Once, I talked to her about finding a job in London or Dublin. When I started to seriously plan this move, I decided I wanted to become more highly qualified, so I took a professional nail course on acrylic nails.

I came to London in October 2005. I hoped that I could learn much more about nails here and also earn better money, but I was very scared because I didn’t speak English. At the beginning of my career in London, I found a job at a good English beauty salon in Knightsbridge. There were also other Polish girls working there, and they helped me with my English. I worked in that salon for more than a year, until my baby was born in 2007.

I stopped working for a few months to look after my baby and family. I was very happy, but I felt that I wanted to go back to work. I started to work privately. It was great, because I could enjoy doing my job and also spend lots of time with my baby, but I wanted more, and so I began to attend nail competitions, and have even won some prizes.

My most recent step toward advancing my career was taking an Instructor Course with Margarita Belska in February 2009. Now I’m teaching at the Margarita Belska Nail School in London. Since I’m originally from Poland, I hope I can teach and help Polish girls who would like to start a career as a nail technician, because it’s a very satisfying profession.
